Region of Origin / Grade: Japanese Whisky Tottori, Japan
Alcohol content: 48 per cent
Volume: 700ml
Barrel: Cherry tree oak barrels
Matsui is a single malt whisky released in 2018, brewed with natural spring water from the Oyama mountain range, a rich natural resource in Tottori Prefecture. Matsui has been recognised by the Japanese spirits industry as an outstanding whisky with a smooth, oily texture. The original spirit is distilled at Kurayoshi Distillery, not chill-filtered and uncoloured, making it a pure and precious Japanese whisky, with classic Japanese artwork on the label of each bottle, demonstrating the combination of whisky and art. The KURAYOSHI MATSUI SAKURA CASK WHISKY features Kikukawa Eizan's ukiyo-e masterpiece ‘Beauty in the Sakura Garden’ on the bottle, depicting the strength and elegance of Japanese women.
This whisky is made from oak casks made from cherry blossom trees, with a light and refreshing cherry blossom aroma and almost no alcohol, the aromatic sweet whisky enters the mouth as smooth as silk, with light vanilla and coconut flavours that slowly blend into every part of the mouth, with fruity and malty notes that are perfectly balanced.

Founded in 1910 in Tottori Prefecture, Matsui Sake Brewery has a history of more than a hundred years, starting out as a shochu, sake and sake brewery. It was only in 2015, at the height of the Japanese whisky boom, that Matsui Brewery was granted a whisky production licence! With the rich natural vegetation in Kurayoshi City, Tottori Prefecture, where the brewery is located, and the soft, sweet water of the Oyama Mountain Stream running through the area, Matsui Brewery started to develop another line of liquor sales - whisky - as the water quality in Tottori Prefecture is one of the best in Japan.
