History

The history of Chateau Bouscaut dates back to the 19th century when the property was acquired by the Chabanneau family. In 1925, Chateau Bouscaut became the property of the Comte de Rivaud and Victor Place who decided to restore the lustre of the entire estate through major renovation work (drainage of the vineyard, raising the house, adding a tower & renovation of the cellars). After many ups and downs, Lucien Lurton finally took over the reins of the property in 1979. He is already the owner of a dozen Grands Crus in various Bordeaux appellations. Then in 1992, he passed on Château Bouscaut to his children. Thus, Sophie & her husband Laurent Cogombles have been managing the property since 1997.

Since 2011, the property has been open to the public as tasting rooms are set up to welcome visitors and the adjoining property has been transformed into a bed and breakfast. This property is one of the few to be classified for its red and white wines.

Vineyard

The vineyard of Château Bouscaut spreads over a clayey-limestone and gravelly soil. The white grape varieties in the vineyard are 68% Sauvignon & 32% Semillon. After the harvest, the white wine of Château Bouscaut ferments and ages with stirring in new oak barrels (40%).

Tasting

On tasting, Château Bouscaut Blanc offers an aromatic and generous wine, well balanced between alcohol and freshness.
