Chenin Blanc is a high-acidity, relatively neutral white grape with aromas of apple, honey, orange peel, and apricot. As such, Chenin Blanc can produce a wide variety of wines. It is worth mentioning that Chenin Blanc tends to produce herbal aroma when it is not fully ripe, so growers will pay special attention to the harvest time of Chenin Blanc, and will delay the harvest time to ensure that the grapes are fully ripe. The more famous production areas include France's Loire Valley and South Africa. In addition, the United States, Australia and other places are planted. In the United States, Napa Valley produced more Chenin Blanc than France at one point. Due to Chenin Blanc's less obvious personality, it is often blended with Colombard locally.

Loire Valley, France

Loire Valley is the hometown of Chenin Blanc, where it is relatively cool and humid. The more famous sub-regions are Touraine and Anjou – Saumur. It can be made into dry, sweet and sparkling wines.

Among them, Saumur has Chenin Blanc sparkling wine (Cremant de Loire) brewed using the traditional method/champagne method. The locally brewed white wine has fresh fruity and floral aromas. In the 17th century, Chenin Blanc was introduced to South Africa by immigrants from the French Loire Valley, where it became known as Steem. Its true identity was later analyzed by Stellenbosch University in the 1960s. It is currently the most commonly grown variety locally and is often blended with Semillon, Viognier and Marsanne. Similar in style to oak-aged Chardonnay, but more intense. Like France, there are dry to sweet Chenin Blanc white wines. The basic version often has a peach aroma and is suitable for daily drinking.
