Domaine Rene Cacheux et Fils, a family boutique winery located in Vosne-Romanee, has been passed down for four generations. Frangois Blee founded the predecessor of the winery in the early 20th century and was later inherited by his son Charles. In 1966, Charles' two daughters inherited the winery. One of them, Jacgueline, and her husband Rene Cacheux, founded the Rene Cacheux-Blee winery. In 2004, their son Gerald Cacheux, who had been traveling for many years, returned to take charge of the family business and renamed the winery Domaine Rene Cacheux et Fils.

Winemaking Philosophy – Preserving ancestral traditions and unique terroir

 Rene Cacheux et Fils only selects the best quality Pinot Noir to create wines rich in character and terroir. The owner believes that the key to the quality of wine lies in the vineyard itself. In order to preserve the ancestral tradition and the unique terroir of each plot (climate), the winery adopts "lutte raisonnee": each grapevine is carefully pruned to achieve the highest yield, while each bunch of grapes can Get enough nutrients and sunlight. Leaves are thinly trimmed (effeuillage) around the fruit bunches to create natural air circulation and reduce the chance of mildew. Chemicals are never used.

As for pest control, the winery adopted the natural method of "confusion sexuelle" 15 years ago to reduce the breeding of pests. Use natural enemies to eliminate pests and avoid spraying chemical pesticides. In addition, Henecaccio encourages the planting of other plants in the vineyard, which not only reduces the growth of weeds, but also maintains a complete ecological system of flora and fauna in the garden. A healthy vineyard will naturally produce fruits that are healthy and can carry the original flavor.
Harvested entirely by hand, the moment you approach the vines, you can directly select healthy fruit bunches with optimal ripeness. Before placing in the open fermentation tank, remove all stems (egrappage). After alcoholic fermentation is completed, it is aged in oak barrels for 18 months; the proportion of new barrels is between 10-50%, depending on each year and plot.

Vineyard

The winery's vineyard area is about 3.26 hectares, mainly distributed in the villages of Vosne Romanee and Chambolle Musigny. Among them, Les Suchots and Les Beaux Monts are located in Vosne Romanee and have superior terroir known as super first-class vineyards.

Les Suchots is the largest first-class vineyard in Vosne Romanee, covering 13 hectares. The terroir has well-drained clay soil. The wines of Les Suchots often have aromas of flowers, raspberries, cherries and black currants, with a full and elegant style and a long finish. In addition to Rene Cacheux, many famous chateaux such as Domaine Grivot, Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux, and Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat own land here.

 

Les Beaux Monts is a vineyard straddling the border of Flagey-Echezeaux and Vosne-Romanée. Covering an area of ​​11.4 hectares, the terroir is characterized by local iron-rich lime soil. The southeastern slope provides ample sunshine. Due to the cool breeze blowing from the north and west, Les Beaux Monts wines have a balanced taste and rich flavor. It retains a certain acidity.
