09/04/2026 Test Report:
Upon opening, the aroma of fresh red cherries and strawberries immediately fills the nose, with a deeper, more elegant hint of licorice and spice.
On the palate, the tannins are incredibly smooth and bursting with juice. The acidity is perfectly balanced, never leaving a dry throat – a truly refreshing "fresh red fruit bomb," light yet not watery.
The finish is clean and pleasant, with lingering sweet red fruit aromas that are perfectly present. After just one sip, you'll be irresistibly reaching for another glass.
Highly recommended for pairing with Cantonese roast meats, especially lean and fatty char siu or crispy roast goose; this beer carries them off perfectly.
"Anne" is actually a man's name: Many people who first hear "Anne de Joyeuse" assume it refers to a female winery owner named Anne, but that's not the case. The name commemorates Anne, Duke of Joyeuse, a close friend and general of King Henry III of France in the 16th century.
Historical Origin: Henry III granted the lands of Limoux to the Duke of Joyeuse, who made significant contributions to the region's rise as a renowned wine-producing area in the 16th century. The winery's name is not only a tribute to history but also carries a touch of classic French romance.
Anne de Joyeuse's ability to cultivate the delicate Pinot Noir so successfully is attributed to its unique geographical location.
The winery's Pinot Noir is primarily planted in the Haute Vallée de l'Aude, situated at a high altitude in the foothills of the Pyrenees.
The warm Mediterranean sun provides the grapes with ample fruit aromas and ripeness; the cool winds from the Atlantic and the chilly air from the Pyrenees create significant diurnal temperature variations. This environment of "warm days and cool nights" provides the ideal conditions for Pinot Noir to develop its delicate aromas and retain its crisp acidity.
"Very Limoux": The winery named this single-varietal series "Very," a pun on "Très Limoux" (extremely Limoux). The core concept of this series is to minimize oak barrel finishing, aiming to allow drinkers to directly and purely experience the true flavors of the Limoux terroir through a single grape variety (such as 100% Pinot Noir or 100% Chardonnay).
Breaking the stereotype of cooperatives mass-producing inexpensive wines, Limoux is recognized as one of France's top ten highest-quality wine cooperatives, currently bringing together over 350 passionate local grape growers. The winery's winemaking team rigorously controls the planting and harvesting standards of each vineyard to ensure that the final wines showcase the highest quality.
