Chita, located on the Chita Peninsula in Japan, is a sub-brand of whisky under the famous Japanese company Suntory, Inc. and the first Single Grain Whisky distillery under Suntory.
In 1972, Chita Distillery was founded by Keizo Saji, Suntory's second chief distiller. Suntory is an old Japanese whisky company founded by Shinjiro Torii. Keizo Saji inherited Suntory and followed in the footsteps of Shinjiro Torii in his belief in the importance of producing a diverse range of local whiskies that truly reflect the character of Japan, and he established Chita to create the highest quality Japanese grain whisky. The Chita Peninsula, where the distillery is located, has a less steep hilly terrain and a mild marine climate, and has been renowned for its superb fermentation process for many years, providing excellent objective conditions for the brewing of premium quality whisky.

Chita uses maize as the main ingredient in the production of grain whisky, which is distilled using a continuous column still. Unlike most distilleries that make heavy grain whisky, Tito's produces three types of grain whisky, namely the Clean Type, Medium Type and Heavy Type, which are double, triple and quadruple distilled respectively.

The distillate is then matured in American white oak barrels in the island's unique climate and natural conditions, a process that gives Grain Whisky its amazing flavour, exceptional silkiness and balance. Once used as a base for Suntory Blend Whisky, Chito Grain Whisky has gained excellent complexity and reached new heights of quality through years of research and innovation.
The winery has taken a small amount of the original wine used for blending [Rings] Whisky and blended it with Zhiduo, then combined it with 10 types of light, medium and heavy turbid wines and fermented it in Spanish oak casks to ensure a certain degree of mellowness and potency, with no bitterness from the peat toasting, and with a breezy aroma and light sweetness, which ultimately creates the distinctive light, sweet and tangy flavour of this Whisky. The versatile flavours and exceptionally smooth texture of this single grain whisky make it the perfect base for Suntory's famous blended whiskies.
