【Clos Henri】
Clos Henri is located in the Marlborough region of New Zealand. The wine produced here can show the best terroir conditions of New Zealand, combined with advanced French winemaking technology, making the wine produced elegant and highly complex.
Clos Henri was founded by the Bourgeois family of the internationally renowned French Henri Bourgeois. This family has been committed to brewing high-quality Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir wines for ten generations. More than 20 years ago, the family decided to have its own vineyards in the New World. To this end, they visited California, Chile, Argentina, New Zealand and other countries and regions to select vineyards, and finally decided to establish their own winery in Marlborough, New Zealand. In 2002, the family founded the current Clos Henri winery on nearly 109 acres of native pasture in Marlborough and continued to express their passion for winemaking.
The Wairau Valley, where the winery is located, is influenced by a mild maritime climate. In the hot months, the temperature rarely reaches 24°C, and the temperature changes between day and night are very significant. Frost is rare in spring, but can occur near the grape harvest, with varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. The Wairau Valley enjoys more sunshine than other parts of New Zealand. The winery uses the best growing methods and winemaking techniques from France and the New World to produce wines that best reflect the Marlborough varieties and terroir. In 2003, the winery produced its first wine, Clos Henri wines, and the excellent quality of the wines produced in subsequent vintages is due to the unique terroir of the winery.
The Henry Winery vineyard has heavy clay, sandy clay and stone soil. The vines are planted at a high density. The focus of the winery is to produce wines that reflect the local vineyard terroir. The winery respects the natural development of the vines, so that it can produce pure, elegant, complex wines that truly reflect the local terroir of Marlborough. Due to the management of grape cultivation and the use of French winemaking technology, the winery produces a unique style that can be distinguished from the Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Noir produced by other wineries in Marlborough.
The wines produced by Henry Winery are composed of 3 different wine labels, showing the natural characteristics of different vineyards. Among them, the ones labeled "Clos Henri" and "Bel Echo" indicate that the wines are produced from specific vineyards, while "while Petit Clos" means that the wine grapes used are from young vines planted in different soil types. For example, the Sauvignon Blanc series of wines include Clos Henri, Bel Echo and Petit Clos. There is also a Pinot Noir series of wines.
