ZTF166A-Domaine Albert Grivault Meursault Clos Du Murger Blanc 2022
$720/btl

It is worthy that Albert Grivault has exclusive possession of this high-quality garden in Clos des Perrières. The flagship wine is of course Meursault Perrieres, which has always been regarded as one of the best Premier Crus in Burgundy. There are even plans to upgrade it to Grand Cru, which is composed of several smaller lieux-dits, namely Uphill Perrières Dessus, adjacent Aux Perrières, downhill Perrières Dessous, and within Dessous there is an independent Premier Cru, the walled Clos des Perrières. In addition, other wines such as Meursault1er Cru Perrieres, Pommard1er Cru Clos Blanc, and Meursault Clos Du Murger are also equally impressive.

The 2022 Clos de Murger is done in classic Meursault style with more weight than the Bourgogne from the same site, ripe apple fruit with hints of butter and hazelnut, and a lovely density. However, there is nothing overdone — the wine retains a balancing acidity, the use of new casks is very judicious (less than 10%), and the reductive handling (no batonnage) delivers a wine of elegance and finesse. The grapes are from the 2.58 hectares of vines in the village behind the family house.
