The Buisson-Battault winery, now in its fifth generation, is a small, unassuming winery in the village of Meursault, producing only 2,500 cases annually. The winery currently owns 8 hectares of vineyards spread across more than 14 appellations. As part of a large family in Meursault, the family also owns other renowned wineries such as Domaines Buisson-Charles and Ballot-Millot. The current owner, François Buisson, joined his father, André, in 1985. After completing his high school education and obtaining a professional degree in viticulture, François embarked on a passionate study of winemaking. The period from 1985 to 2003, a collaboration between father and son, was filled with the passing down of experience and a vision for innovation. In 1991, François officially took over the management of the winery, introducing modern winemaking equipment while maintaining the family's pure and elegant style.

Puligny-Montrachet, along with the neighboring villages of Meursault and Chassagne-Montrachet, is considered one of Burgundy's finest white wine appellations. This Puligny-Montrachet uses vines planted in the Noyer Bret plot, directly below the Les Enseignières (Bishop's Estate), quite close to Chassagne-Montrachet. The soil here is primarily brown limestone mixed with marl, and the vineyard faces southeast.

François Buisson inherited his father's vision, firmly believing that wine should reflect the characteristics of its terroir without being overly simplistic. His goal is to create elegant wines that can be enjoyed young while also possessing cellar aging potential. To achieve this, he uses as much lees as possible in aging, giving the wines a rich, fleshy structure and exceptional aging potential. During winemaking, only a very small percentage of new barrels are used; even for Premier Cru wines, the proportion does not exceed 20%. Furthermore, the barrels are not stirred to preserve the purity of the terroir. In addition, high-quality wines are further aged in tanks for six months to achieve optimal flavor balance. François also adjusts the operations of the vineyards and cellars according to the phases of the moon to ensure that each vintage expresses its unique character. Buisson-Battault wines are renowned for their direct, expressive style and the minerality characteristic of the village of Meursault. Master of Wine Jasper Morris MW praised these wines for truly reflecting the characteristics of the terroir, which is precisely what the winery has always strived for.
