【Pauillac fourth level chateau】
【Both belong to the famous winery Lafite family】
Château Duhart Milon Rothschild
Duart Milon is located in the Pauillac production area of Bordeaux, France. It is the only fourth-level chateau located in Pauillac in the 1855 Bordeaux Grand Cru Classification. It currently belongs to the Rothschild family Domaines Barons de Rothschild together with Lafite Manor. The original name was Chateau Milon. In the early 18th century, the wine it produced was sold as Lafite's second wine. Since the vineyard borders Lafite's vineyard, Baron Eric de Rothschild said when he bought it in 1962, "It "would have been nonsense not to acquire such a greatneighbouring vineyard", the wine style produced is very similar to Lafite.
At that time, the name of the winery was only Mandavy-Milon. The grape vines here were rented for winemaking. The quality of its wine was recognized by Lafite and became Lafite's sub-brand. The sale brought abundant income. Later, in the 1830s, Mandavy-Milon Both the Milon winery and Sir Duhart's vineyards in Pauillac were taken over by the Casteja family, a middleman, and merged into Duhart-Milon.
During the time that the Casteja family managed the domaine, Duchamelon was awarded the fourth growth rating in the 1855 classification. In the early 20th century, this domaine remained one of the largest in Pauillac, with approximately 50 hectares of vineyards. However, since the outbreak of World War II in 1937, the winery has changed owners five times, and the quality of the wine has continued to decline. When the Rothschild family purchased the winery in 1962, they breathed new life into it. Drainage systems were built in the vineyards, old vines were uprooted and new ones were planted, and plots were exchanged with neighboring wineries to obtain The most suitable combination of blended wine varieties, and continuous additions to increase the vineyard area,
The soil of the vineyard is a mixture of fine gravel and aeolian sand covering the igneous rock base. Since most of the vineyard vines face the north, the temperature is cooler, creating a more elegant and fresh style for the wine. Duchamelon is a unique single large-area vineyard in the Pauillac production area. The grapes are harvested manually. The grapes on each small plot are tasted immediately after picking to determine whether they will enter the station of top wine after fermentation. , the fermentation process is carried out in stainless steel fermentation lees. In the next 12 months, each lees will be tested several times to select the top wine according to strict standards. After the wine is brewed, it is aged in oak barrels for about 14 months, half of which are new barrels. The wine produced is strong and solid, elegant and full of earthy flavor, with exquisite tannins and rich fruit flavor. The annual output is about 20,000 to 25,000 cases. Now it is made by the same Eric Kohler, technical director who manages Lafite, is in charge.

Taste: Chateau Duhart Milon Lafite, the same first growth, uses the same vineyard management and winemaking team! It is also isolated from Lafite. The terroir is very similar☺️!! This "neighbor" is his eldest brother, who also belongs to the Rothschild family, so the wine is made Liquor wines are very popular. The 2016 is definitely the top vintage of Bordeaux. It is full of flavors of leather, oak, coffee, chocolate and mushroom. The wine body is still powerful, the tannins are soft, and the aftertaste is long and has the taste of licorice. It is outstanding! Also It has great potential for aging. Buy a few bottles and open one every year to feel the changes over time. This is definitely a great pleasure for wine lovers!

The 2021 Duhart-Milon has turned out beautifully, offering up incipiently complex aromas of dark berries and cassis mingled with notions of orange zest, burning embers, pencil lead and iris. Medium to full-bodied, suave and polished, with a layered core of fruit, supple tannins and a long, sapid finish, it will offer a broad drinking window.
