Bodegas Piqueras is located within thegeographical area covered by DO Almansa, a plateau located in the southeasternpart of the province of Albacete, in the Autonomous Community of Castile-LaMancha (Spain). Founded in 1915 by Louis, the great-grandfather of the currentowner, the winery has always remained a family business. History and traditionare reflected in the way we grow our vineyards, produce quality wines that arebottled and exported to more than 45 countries. Bodegas Piqueras wines standout in the production of almost all wines from local grapes. Mainly the nativegrapes Garnacha Tintorera and Monastrell varieties from the DO Almansa regionare used. At Bodegas Piqueras, we make wine with heart. We take quality veryseriously throughout the winemaking process and monitor it closely. We havegrown a lot in recent decades, but we remain as in control of our production asever, without ignoring the unpredictable elements of the winemaking processthat only good winemakers can do.

The land is rich in limestone and poor inorganic matter, with alternating land areas with little matrix and rock, whileothers are sandier and deeper. Most of the vineyards are located on flatground, but vines can sometimes be seen on nearby hillsides. DO Almansareceived a Designation of Origin in 1964 and has over 7,000 hectares ofvineyards with an average altitude between 700 and 1,000 meters. The soil inthe production area is limestone with rich topsoil containing carbonates. Thevineyards are located on flat ground, characterized by permeable, limestone andnutrient-poor soils, ideal conditions for the production of fine wines. The DOAlmansa production area is located between 700 and 1,000 meters above sea leveland has a Mediterranean and continental climate. The maximum temperature is38ºC in summer and -6ºC in winter.
Rainfall is sparse in the region, with anaverage annual rainfall of less than 350 mm. With little rainfall, high soilpermeability and low yields, they result in wines with very high aroma andcolor intensity. DO Almansa currently has 12 wineries in the geographical areaproducing wine, 20% of its wines are sold in Spain and 80% are exported to morethan 45 countries.
