The founder, Eleuterio Martinez Arzok, is a dreamer with ambition and ambition. In 1861, he bought a manor with vineyards in Rioja and founded Bodegas Faustino.
Later, the phylloxera disaster that swept across Europe almost destroyed his dream, but the family winery finally survived this difficult period.
In 1920, Faustino Martinez Pérez de Albéniz and his father began to renovate the family vineyard.。
Today, Bodegas Faustino is located in Rioja Alavesa and covers an area of 650 hectares. Faustino exports its wines to more than 100 countries around the world and is the producer of the world's best-selling Gran Reserva (Riohart vintage).
Although the winery has made impressive achievements, it has not stopped. Its exploration of winemaking technology is fully reflected in the three latest wines launched.
These three newcomers are: Gran Faustino 1955, Willy Ramos Art Collection Willy Ramos Edition and Icon Reserva Especial (the latest 2014 vintage is only its second vintage).
Gran Faustino was first launched in 1963. The 1955 Gran Faustino was released after eight years of aging. In order to celebrate the 55th year of this wine (2018), the winery decided to share the 2,555 bottles of Gran Faustino 1955 stored in its own wine cellar with the world, so that they can taste this wine that has been baptized by the years.
The growing and brewing techniques at that time were far less precise and advanced than today. Therefore, the best way to transport grapes at that time was to put the grapes in baskets and tie them to the sides of donkeys or horses to transport them to nearby wine cellars. After arriving at the wine cellar, the grapes undergo a process similar to semi-carbonic maceration before starting fermentation, which is the key to ensuring quality.
The Art Collection series fully demonstrates the winery’s current winemaking philosophy. This wine is made entirely from Tempranillo and was given as a gift to Spain’s most influential master of art, Willy Ramos (who is also a fan of the winery). Willy Ramos immigrated to Spain from Colombia when he was 14 years old.
Ramos redesigned the wine label for the winery, inspired by the portrait of Dutch businessman Nicolaes Van Bambeeck. After several months of creation and many revisions, Ramos finally delivered a satisfactory answer. Ramos himself said: "The wine label is full of color, vitality and emotion, just like the Faustino wine."
There is no doubt that Faustino is one of the most famous wine brands in Spain, but it does not dwell on its past outstanding performance, but continues to move forward, producing wines with increasingly texture and depth, and more superior wines.
While continuing to solidify its roots, Bodegas Faustino maintains close interactions with a new generation of consumers and wine lovers, and looks forward to more sparks colliding with world-famous artists.

It spends a minimum of 25 months in French and American oak barrels and a minimum of 3 years in bottle. The solid price makes this wine people's signature democratic wine.
