ZTIN002 - Indri Triple Cask Indian Whisky Single Malt 1000ml
Special price: $520/bottle
Origin/Level: India
Alcohol content: 46%
Volume: 1000ml
Made from centuries-old, indigenous six-row barley from Rajasthan, this exceptional single malt is aged in select oak casks and carefully blended to bring out the unique flavours of each cask (first-fill bourbon, French casks and PX sherry) without overpowering the original flavour of the whisky. This whisky is not chill-filtered and no colouring is added.
Taste: Indri Trini is a complex and beautiful whisky with rich notes of dried fruits, honey and a hint of oak. On the palate, the aromas of vanilla, caramel and spice layer on top, with a delicate smoky note lingering in a smooth, warm finish. The depth of its aging in different oak casks is evident in every sip.

Indri is India’s newest single malt whisky brand, and it’s quickly gaining acclaim and attention. Like many other “overnight success” stories, true success comes from years of hard work and development, not just a fluke. Trini (full name: Trini The Three Wood) is Indri’s flagship product and is definitely one to watch.

India is no stranger to whisky, of course. While the majority of Indian whisky is adulterated or molasses-based neutral spirits, a few brands have decided to produce premium single malts that adhere to the specifications and standards recognized in the Scotch whisky world. Brands such as Amrut, Paul John and Rampur have already pioneered this space, and now Indri has announced its entry.
Indri’s parent company is Piccadily, which traces its roots back to 1953 when its founding family first ventured into liquor distribution in Punjab. Piccadily was formally established in 1967 and continued to grow and diversify in the 1970s and 1980s, diversifying into catering, film distribution and hotels. Piccadily officially started producing liquor in 1993 with a sugar mill and distillery in Patiala, and a second one in Indri in 1994. In 2009, with government approval, Piccadilly became the first company in India to distill spirit from sugarcane juice (rather than neutral spirits from fermented molasses), making it the first company to create true rum. Finally, in 2012, the Indri facility was expanded with an upgraded malt distillery.

The Indri Distillery is located in Haryana, India’s northernmost state, about three and a half hours’ drive due north of New Delhi. (In terms of latitude, the Indri Distillery is actually located above Kathmandu in neighboring Nepal!) The region’s geographic and climatic conditions present some challenges for the aging warehouses, with temperatures ranging from 1 degree Celsius in winter to a typical 40-46 degrees Celsius in summer. The distillery’s malt is a six-row barley variety that comes from the neighboring state of Rajasthan, slightly to the southwest.
The water source is the Yamuna River, which is a snowmelt from the Himalayas. It uses century-old six-row barley from Rajasthan, India, and is fermented with a special yeast. The fermentation time is about 50 hours in summer and 60 hours in winter. Three sets of copper pot stills produce about 15,000 liters per day. The temperature difference of up to 50 degrees throughout the year makes the annual "angel's share" as high as 12%, but it also makes the dialogue between the wine and the barrels more exciting and rich. The diversified barrel utilization strategy and in-house coopers use new American white wood barrels, bourbon barrels, French red wine barrels, Oloroso sherry barrels and PX sherry barrels for aging.
