Kuroyu Brewery is located in Fukui Prefecture in the Hokuriku region of central Japan. The brewery was founded in 1804 and was originally named "Ishidaya". It was officially renamed "Kuroyu Brewery" in 1948. The name of Kuroryu Shuzo comes from the nearby water source - "Kyuzuryu River": Hakusan in Fukui Prefecture is one of the three sacred mountains in Japan. The ice and snow on the mountain melt and flow through the mountains and rivers. The nature of the water is soft and the water quality is extremely clear. The water source It has been flowing through the center of Fukui Prefecture and is called "Kyuzuryu River". The shrine that guards the Kuzuryu River is "Black Dragon Shrine". The sake brewery took the name of the black dragon, and the names of the two major series of sake breweries are " "Nine-Headed Dragon", "Black Dragon".

In addition, Kuroyu Brewery attaches great importance to raw materials. Kuroyu Brewery and 11 other breweries in the industry have formed "Frontier Tojo 21", which is committed to using Yamada Nishiki produced in the Tojo region to brew the highest grade Japanese sake. At the same time, we also use high-quality five million stones grown by cooperative farmers in Ono District, Fukui Prefecture.

The current president is Naoto Mizuno. He joined the brewery in 1990 and became the president in 2005. He is the eighth generation of the brewery. After Mr. Mizuno joined the brewery, he integrated the brewery’s products with the aim of brewing a product that is both precious and inexpensive. A lot of sake, and the quality will not be reduced just to track the production volume. The current Emperor Naruhito of Japan is a fan of Kuroyu brewing. He likes to purchase Kuroyu sake on the market by himself instead of using sake brewing tributes. This will give him a more authentic experience of the sake brewing instead of enjoying the so-called "special offer" , you can feel that the Emperor of Japan really loves the products of Kurolong Shuzo.
