Kurayoshi Whiskey Distillery was founded 13 years earlier than Yamazaki. It was established by Matsui Shuzo in Kurayoshi City, Tottori Prefecture in 1910. It initially started with taro shochu, which was derived from the excellent water quality in Tottori Prefecture, and then began to research whiskey. Kurayoshi whiskey is made from carefully selected whiskeys from northern Scotland and Japanese domestic distilling techniques. It relies on rich natural resources and natural spring water from the mountains. This process of research and development and improvement has created the good taste of Kurayoshi whiskey today. Kurayoshi is rated as an outstanding whiskey by the Japanese liquor industry, a perfect combination of whiskey and sherry barrels.

Kurayoshi Distillery, a Japanese whiskey distillery, is located near Kurayoshi in the mountains, where there is a high-quality water source that is indispensable for making whiskey. It is said that the name Kurayoshi comes from the etymology of "good life". It is located on the side of the Sea of Japan and has a large temperature difference between cold and warm, so the whiskey matures relatively quickly. It can be said that the nature here creates whiskey. Although there are only a small number of people in the distillery, everyone is moving forward together with the determination to make the best wine with their own hands.

Matsui Shuzo's whiskey does not just rely on the taste of a few whiskey masters, but invites hundreds of whiskey lovers and other professionals to taste it and pays close attention to their feedback to develop Matsui whiskey. Characteristics of Matsui whiskey include not only the shape of the copper pot still, but also the environmental conditions in which aging takes place. From testing storage conditions to experimenting with barrel shapes, Matsui Shuzo is not afraid of innovation.

The distillery is committed to producing a variety of whiskeys, not only using traditional wine barrels or sherry wood barrels for aging, but also challenging new barrels made of Japanese oak or cherry blossom wood. After aging the fine wine in various wooden barrels, through unremitting efforts, we produce a variety of original whiskeys, allowing you to taste whiskeys of various flavors.

Kurayoshi 8-year-old single malt Japanese whiskey has been placed in American bourbon white oak barrels for more than eight years, making the taste more mature and rich. The color is light golden like citrus, with the aroma of malt and nuts, and the taste is compatible with sweet nuts and refreshing fruits.
