A beautiful wine from the Moueix stable of right bank offerings, the 2009 Latour a Pomerol displays a dense plum/ruby/purple color along with a bouquet of mocha, roasted nuts, wood smoke, truffles and sweet cherries. Full-bodied, round and generous with sweet tannin, considerable power and no hard edges, this is a surprisingly up-front, precocious effort that can be drunk now or cellared for two decades.

Good deep ruby-red. Superripe aromas of blackberry, bitter chocolate and mocha show an almost liqueur-like quality and are complemented by sexy, oaky torrefaction. Very supple, tactile and sweet, but with sound balancing acidity giving lift and definition to the ripe blueberry and cassis flavors. Finishes very fresh and long, with toothdusting but very smooth tannins that will call for several years of bottle aging. An excellent and impressively concentrated Latour a Pomerol that comes across as refined and lively for all its power and density.
【Chateau Latour a Pomerol】
Chateau Latour a Pomerol is one of the famous wineries in the Pomerol region. The suffix Pomerol is added to distinguish it from Chateau Latour, a first-class winery. This charming castle is decorated by a small tower and is located near the church in the village of Pomerol. The winery was acquired in 1917 by the famous Madame Loubat, who was also the owner of Château Petrus at that time. It was then owned by her niece, Mrs. Lacoste, for 40 years until 2002 when she donated the winery to the Chateauneuf de Galaure Foundation.
The vineyards have an average age of 35 years and are characterized by soil diversity: the soil around the castle is mostly loamy, while the best areas near the church are dominated by gravel and clay. The vineyard was replanted after the frost of 1956. Jean-Pierre MOUEIX started working in the vineyards in 1962, bringing basic care and expertise to the vineyards. to achieve optimal grape ripeness, followed by manual harvesting. After gentle fermentation of the grapes in concrete tanks, 33% of the wine was aged in new oak barrels. Chateau Latour à Pomerol is renowned for producing rich wines that strike a perfect balance between elegance and power.
