Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte is located in the village of Martillac in the Pessac-Leognan region south of Bordeaux, France
As early as 1365, the famous Bosq family planted grapes here. This piece of gravel land is called "Lafitte", which means "higher hill". In the 18th century, the Scottish shipper George Smith (George Smith) bought the winery, added his name to the name of the winery, and named it "Smith Lafitte Chateau". Later, he built the current main building of the winery and began to use his own ships to export wine to the UK, so during this period, the winery has become famous overseas.
In 1842, Mr. Duffour-Dubergier, the mayor of Bordeaux at the time and an avid grape lover, inherited Smith Lafitte from his mother and has led the winery since then. On board the ranks of winery. At the beginning of the 20th century, the Louis Eschenauer company began to pay attention to the high-quality wines of Smith Lafitte Chateau, and obtained the ownership of the chateau in 1958. Since then, he has invested heavily in the winery, including the construction of a huge underground wine cellar that can hold 1,000 vats.
In 1990, former French national team skier Daniel Cathiard (Daniel Cathiard) became the owner of the winery and made wine with great enthusiasm to carry forward the honor of Chateau Smith Lafitte. The Cadiades have invested a lot of money in repairing the winery, while combining modern advanced technology with traditional winemaking methods. Since 1992, the winery no longer uses chemical herbicides, and adopts biodynamic method to grow grapes. In 1998, the winery replaced the fermentation vessels with oak barrels, hired winemakers extensively, including Michel Rolland as a winemaking consultant, and added vibrating sorting tables. These measures have enabled the wines of Chateau Smith Lafitte to maintain a consistent high quality over the years.
The emblem of Château Smith Lafitte has an inverted crown, and the three branches of the crown represent the three sons of George Smith. The three lilies below symbolize the Bosco family who established the estate's vineyards. The crescent in the middle represents the Port of Bordeaux, which is known as the "Port of the Moon". It can be seen from history that the reason why Bordeaux wine is famous all over the world is also due to the businessmen of the British Empire, including Mr. Smith, the Scottish shipper Mr. Smith, the former owner of Château Lafitte Smith. Wine went abroad and spread to the whole world.

The scale of the building complex of Smith Lafitte Winery is quite large, including not only the castle, brewing workshop, large underground wine cellar, but also the large-scale Les Sources de Caudalie, Caudalie Grape Essence Spa Caudalie Vinotherapie Spa, Caudalie fine dining restaurant, gardens, running water and numerous artistic sculptures in the courtyard, including "Running Rabbit" by Barry Flanagan "Sculpture, as well as wonderful works by Chinese sculptor Huang Yongping, Italian artist Mimmo Paladino and others.
