Chateau Mouton is one of the five largest wineries in Bordeaux. Mouton translates to sheep, so all the labels have the horns of sheep on them, and each year the labels of the main wines (the first wines) were contributed by contemporary paintings by different artists, such as Miro in 1969 and Picasso in 1973, who were also rewarded with five cases of red wine. 2000 Mouton is a change from the usual. The 2000 Mouton is a departure from the norm, with an engraved bottle and gold lines to emphasise the noble design.
Unique in both terroir and winemaking, Le Petit Mouton de Mouton Rothschild is the second wine of Chateau Mouton Rothschild. It is made from a selection of younger vines in the famous First Growth vineyard and is harvested, vinified and bottled with meticulous attention to detail. The wine was picked in small open baskets, fermented in oak barrels and then matured in the traditional way in oak barrels, fulfilling all the conditions for a wine that expresses the elegance and richness of the great Pauillac.
