【Single barrel original wine tastes unique】

The so-called Single Cask is a whisky from a single barrel. In most cases, it will not be diluted with water. It is directly bottled with the attitude of Cask Strength. When tasting such a whisky, it feels like tasting the wine directly drawn from the barrel. There are no two identical wooden barrels in the world. Even if they are made of the same wood, it may be affected by different humidity and temperature due to the different storage positions of the wooden barrels. Each cask may be unique in style, even within the same batch of casks, there may be slight differences. The whisky that can be launched in the name of single cask must be strictly selected by distillery experts, because the number of whisky that can be bottled in a single barrel is actually not many.

What makes Single cask so expensive is the difference and quantity. The finished product from each cask may have its own style and characteristics, and these styles may be irresistible. You may not be able to use it in another batch. It is found in the whisky, and the capacity of each whisky barrel is limited, the largest butt is only about 480 liters, plus angel's share stealing wine, the same barrel of whisky can only produce less than 700 bottles of single cask, and As I said before, there are not many whiskies that can be bottled in a single barrel, so it is actually rare and precious

Cold filtration is to quickly reduce the temperature of the wine to a low temperature below 4 degrees before bottling, and solidify the esters precipitated in the whisky to form crystals and then precipitate out. The main purpose is to make the wine clear and crystal clear and increase the selling appearance. Condensation treatment is a modern filtration technology, and all early Scotch whiskies were Non Chill Filtered. When the temperature of the wine slowly drops, or when adding water and ice, these esters will gradually condense into a white suspension, and the whiskey will not look good when it falls.

In fact, apart from being unsightly, the white suspended matter has no effect on health, but some buyers will be surprised to buy fake wine with questionable quality when they see it, so most wineries will use condensation treatment.

Esters are the main source of the aroma of spirits. While filtering to remove sediment, it also takes away a lot of the original flavor of whisky. Going back to the original Scotch whisky industry, non-chill filtration is the mainstream of course, retaining the maximum value of aromatic substances such as esters and phenols produced in the whisky production process. In order to maintain the best condition of non-cold-filtered whisky, the alcohol concentration must be increased, the cooling action is removed, and the alcohol concentration of 40% marked in the original general bottling is increased to more than 46%, so as to ensure that no white color will be produced. Suspended matter, but the cost is relatively high.
