Malibu liqueur is a flavored liqueur brewed from natural coconut extract, with an alcohol content of approximately 21%. The Malibu brand is currently owned by the Pernod-Lega Group. Although Malibu is a fruit-flavored liqueur, it is also officially classified as a liqueur based on liqueur.
Although Malibu's bottle is opaque white (the bottle is wrapped in a plastic wrap), the drink is actually clear and colorless. Malibu liqueur is thicker than ordinary liqueur.

The prototype of Malibu liqueur is a fruit-flavored spirit made from coconut and rum from Curaçao. Initially, this wine was only used to prepare pina coladas. As the drink became popular, production was moved to West Indies Rum Distillery Ltd. in Barbados, and the quality of the ingredients was improved. The "Malibu" brand was subsequently held by Diageo and bought to the Allied Domecq Group in 2002. After the Pernod-Legal Group acquired Allied Domecq in 2005, it holds the "Malibu" brand until today.
Malibu liqueur has evolved into many different versions from its original coconut flavored liqueur. The various versions currently on the market include passion fruit liqueur, melon liqueur, pineapple liqueur, mango liqueur and banana liqueur. Each Malibu liqueur can be drunk directly, with ice or with milk. Of course, the more common way to drink it is to add various mixed fruit juices or soft drinks such as Coke or Solo soda, called Jamaican lemonade. Malibu liqueur is also often used to make various cocktails.
