Chateau Montviel purchased by Catherine Pere-Verge, a well-known female owner of Pomerol. It is currently in the hands of his son Henri Parent. The whole wine is full of floral aromas, with flavors of bright red plums and cherries and a jammy feel. With a delicate hint of bay leaf and chocolate. The taste is juicy, delicate and rounded, the wine is medium-bodied and the finish is elegant, delicate and long.

Fine spices, currants, plums and a hint of bay leaf. Juicy and fine-grained on the palate with a medium body and an elegant, fine-grained finish with good length. A little light, but appealing for early drinking.

From the Le Gay stable, the 2021 Montviel offers up rich aromas of jammy berries, orange rind, plums and petals, followed by a medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy palate that's succulent and giving.
【Chateau Montviel】
Chateau Montviel is located in the Pomerol production area of Bordeaux, France. It is a winery owned by Catherine Pere-Verge, a well-known female owner of Pomerol. Purchased in 1985, it was her first winery in Pomerol. Later, several other Pomerol wineries including Chateau Le Gay were purchased. After the death of Catherine Pere-Verge in 2013, the winery was transferred to her son Henri Parent.

The vineyards of Chateau Montviel are distributed in three villages in Pomerol, namely Bellevue-Montviel, La Croix des Templiers and Montviel. There are roughly two soil types in the vineyard, one is gravel and sandy soil, the other is gravel and clay. The total area of the vineyard is 10.1 hectares, but the winery will only select high-quality grapes from 5 hectares of the land to make its own wine. There are an average of 5,500 grapevines planted per hectare of land in the garden, and the average age of these grapevines is as long as 30 years. The planting ratio is 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc.
The famous flying winemaker Michel Rolland has been the winery's winemaking consultant since 1988, and the quality of the wine has been significantly improved. After the initial fermentation is completed, malolactic fermentation will continue in oak barrels with the wine lees, and then matured in new French oak barrels.
