The Otard XO Gold draws its personality from a blend of Grande Champagne, Borderies and Fins Bois; Grande Champagne for its complexity, Borderies for its floral touch and Fins Bois for its vigour. The Otard XO Gold is aged for many years to give its mature complexities. The Otard XO Gold was awarded Silver Medal at the International Wine & Spirit Competition with Courvoisier XO claiming Gold Medal and Martell XO receiving Bronze Medal in the Cognac XO category.

Otard Cognac is inextricably linked to the Château de Cognac, a magnificent fortress that has stood on the banks of the Charente River since the 10th century. This architectural marvel, once home to King Francis I of France, now serves as the beating heart of Baron Otard's cognac production.

Baron Otard's cognac production is a testament to the founder's vision and the expertise developed over generations. The process begins with selecting grapes from the finest vineyards in the Cognac region, primarily from the prestigious Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, and Borderies crus. The cognac undergoes double distillation in copper pot stills, a process that requires immense skill and experience. The resulting eau-de-vie is then aged in French oak barrels, some of which are over a century old. What sets Baron Otard apart is its unique aging environment. The Château de Cognac's location along the Charente River creates ideal conditions for cognac maturation. The lower cellars, close to the river, maintain a warm and humid atmosphere, while the upper levels provide drier conditions. This diverse environment allows for the creation of cognacs with exceptional depth and complexity.

Baron Otard has earned its place as one of the world's top five cognac brands. Its commitment to quality is evident in its product range, with 80% of its production dedicated to VSOP (Very Superior Old Pale) and higher-grade cognacs. The brand's excellence has been recognized internationally. Baron Otard has won numerous awards, including gold medals at the International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC) in 1997, 1999, and 2002. In 2005, it was named the best cognac by IWSC.
