【Pavillon Rouge du Chateau Margaux 】

Pavillon Rouge du Chateau Margaux is a traditional wine of Chateau Margaux with a long history, known as Chateau Margaux vin de sauvignon in the 19th century, and officially named Pavillon Rouge in 1920. In the 19th century it was called Chateau Margaux vin de sauvignon, and in 1920 it was officially named Pavillon Rouge. The label has remained the same, with the exception of some mandatory legal changes. Château Margaux has 12 hectares of vineyards dedicated to Sauvignon Blanc, located on a very old part of the estate, which in 1955 was not recognised as part of the Margaux appellation because of the threat of frost. The white grapes harvested today are of excellent quality and character. Since the end of the 1970s, the harvest has declined considerably due to insufficient pruning and production has fallen to 3,000 litres per hectare.

In addition to the aforementioned Pavillon Rouge du Chateau Margaux, the secondary red wines are made using the same vinification method as the full-label wines, except that they are bottled three or four months earlier than the full-label wines.Chateau Margaux has one of the best-known French wines, Grand Vin du Chateau Margaux, and a secondary white wine, Pavillon Blanc du Chateau Margaux. In 2009, Chateau Margaux launched Margaux de Chateau Margaux, a three-label red wine, which is fresher and more suitable for younger people than the first and second labels.
