Sawaki The Shanli 山梨 Japanese Whisky

Located in Yamanashi Prefecture in Tokyo, Sawaki Distillery launched “Yamanashi”, a cask-aged whisky named after the place, in the Japanese market in 2018. Produced in a style similar to Islay, with an emphasis on sea air, the slightly fruity flavour of the whisky subtly envelops the slightly sweeter body, giving the whisky a freshness and depth of flavour. The Yamanashi whisky was developed by the famous Japanese distiller Yukitaka Tamura. In order to preserve the full-bodied character of the Yamanashi, Yukitaka Tamura only uses the distillation three times and reassembles the casks so as to minimise the impact on the spirit, making it a defender of the original flavour of Japanese whisky.

Yamanashi Japanese Whisky is similar in style to Islay but with a very Japanese flavour, Yamanashi Japanese Whisky has a strong sea air flavour due to the environment in which it is aged. With a strong smoky peat flavour, Yamanashi Japanese Whisky releases a fruity and subtly sweet body on the highly distinctive and sought after palate. Developed by Japanese master distiller Yukitaka Tamura, Yamanashi is the single malt whisky that best reflects the style of Japanese distilling, and is a defender of the original flavour of Japanese whisky.
