The nose is dominated by dark fruit flavors of black cherry and black currant, with layers of chocolate, leather and herbs. This wine has a beautiful texture and rich taste, with harmonious integration of fruit flavor and structure, and an elegant and persistent finish with dark fruits and spices, giving it a fresh and clean feeling.
Second de Camensac is a wine produced by Bordeaux 5th Classified Growth Chateau Camensac, one of the lesser-known wineries of the 1855 Classified Growths. However, after the Forner family acquired the winery in 1965, it underwent repairs; when they purchased the château, the winery was very run-down and in 1968, there were only 13 hectares under vine. The Forner family increased the area to 65 hectares today. The Forner family replanted the vineyards and renovated the winery and replaced the winemaking equipment. With the help and supervision of Emile Peynaud (a famous French oenologist), they began to produce some very high quality wines.
Chateau Camensac, also known as Chateau Camensac in Chinese, is located in the Bordeaux-Haut-Médoc region and was founded in the 18th century. In this region, Chateau Camensac, like several other classified wineries in Haut-Médoc, has not achieved remarkable results, but its products are still praised. Chateau Camensac is a rather confusing winery, and its past history is difficult to know. It is only known that it began to participate in Bordeaux's wine trade in the 18th century and exported to countries such as the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. In the 1855 Bordeaux classified winery rating, Chateau Camensac was listed as a fifth-class winery along with Cantemerle, Belgrave and other famous classified wineries in the same region. In 1964, Chateau Camensac was acquired by the Former family, who were of Spanish descent. They had extensive experience in winemaking in the Rioja region of Spain. After the winery was accepted by them, the vineyard area was immediately expanded to 65 hectares, and then various new winemaking equipment was introduced to further improve the winery's output and quality.
The winery's grape planting ratio is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, and no Cabernet Franc. During the harvest season, the grapes are picked manually and screened one by one, and finally placed in temperature-controlled stainless steel barrels for fermentation. Chateau Camensac produces about 30,000 boxes a year. With its outstanding and stable strength, it was awarded the fifth level in the Bordeaux 1855 rating. In recent years, the winery has hired Michel Rolland, who is known for his ability to turn stones into gold, as a winemaking consultant and has insisted on using organic farming in the vineyards. The quality has improved by leaps and bounds, and the winery has won the love of many consumers with its full, sweet fruit flavor and mature tannin style.
