Aromas of red berries and heathered flowers, but also blood orange fruit, adding a bit of complexity. On the palate it is good, with fine tannins and fresh acidity, especially in the fresh red cherry and cranberry flavors. The finish is beautiful and just right.

This 37-hectare estate in the southern Médoc (not far from the likes of La Lagune and Cantemerle) has delivered a fine effort in the form of the 2021 Sénéjac. Offering up aromas of cassis, spices, pipe tobacco and loamy soil, it's medium-bodied, ample and fleshy, with the supple tannins and charming, open personality that's typical of wines from this sector. Château Talbot's Jean-Michel Laporte is the winemaker.
Chateau Senejac is located in the Haut Medoc appellation on the left bank of Bordeaux, France, with sub-appellations such as Pauillac, Margaux, Saint Juluen, Saint Estephe, etc. The Haut Medoc appellation itself is home to five Grand Cru châteaux classified in 1855 and close to 90 intermediate châteaux, making it an indispensable quality region in Bordeaux. The Haut Medoc region is one of Bordeaux's most important and quality regions.
Senejac, a former Cru Bourgeois, has always stood out in terms of value for money. Even Jancis Robinson, a notorious critic, called Senejac 2010 one of the favorite Crus Bourgeois of the time!
Purchased in 1999 by Lorraine Cordier, former owner of Chateau Talbot, the quality of the wines began to improve. After Lorraine's death, the estate was run by his sister Nancy Bignon Cordier, with Alfred Tesseron at the head of the Chateau Pontet Canet winemaking team. The wine is handled by a team of Chateau Pontet Canet winemakers headed by Alfred Tesseron and supported by Eric Boissenot, the winemaking consultant of a number of 1st growths, so the quality of the wines is unquestionable!
The soil has a lot of gravel which helps the grapes to ripen, which makes Bordeaux's representative Cabernet Sauvignon more stable and ripe. Senejac is located in the western suburb of the southernmost town of Parempuyre on gravel-rich sandy land, so the terroir is not erosion-prone at all!
