Moscato d'Asti

World-renowned Italian sparkling wine

Moscato d'Asti comes from the Asti region of Italy. It is brewed with Moscato Bianco grapes (small grains of white muscat), and it is the highest level in Italy-DOCG level. Moscato d'Asti has rich floral and fruity aromas, especially citrus fruits, honey, melon, grape, peach, rose, etc., and is not high in alcohol. This is slightly sparkling wine, which is evident from the stopper used. A general-purpose red wine cork is used, because the inner end is continuously stimulated by carbon dioxide, and it will expand after opening.

Brewing methods and characteristics

Retain slightly sweet taste, low alcohol, rich fruity taste

The most common fermentation process of wine is the process of converting sugar into alcohol and carbon dioxide. The sugar comes from the fructose and glucose in the grapes themselves.

The process adopted by Moscato d'Asti is to end the fermentation early, and when the alcohol content reaches 5.5%vol, the wine is cooled and the fermentation is stopped. This not only retains the grape fructose (Residual Sugar), but also retains a large amount of aromatic substances. This process results in the much-loved Moscato d'Asti, which is floral, with notes of peach, honey and citrus. Unlike Champagne, it does not undergo secondary fermentation in the bottle, but the wine is filtered before bottling to ensure it retains its translucent golden color.
