Bolgheri is one of my favorite Italian producing areas. It is located in the middle of Tuscany, which is closest to the sea. Stepping into Bolgheri, you can feel the natural environment and the lifestyle of the locals. Here It is considered a rare atmosphere in the world that no longer exists.
Dale and Marco, the directors of I Greppi winery, took us on a tour of Bolgheri. The natural environment here is very well maintained. The woods and coastal hillsides. The vineyards are usually surrounded by forests or ancient olive trees to protect them from winter. The most severe cold attack. The most precious part here is the wines of the region. These wines have made the recent history of Italian winemaking and perfectly match the local cuisine. The fragrant, complex and generous wines are mainly made from international grape varieties, like Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. In addition to the three international grapes on the left, a small amount of Sangiovese, Petit Verdot and Syrah can be blended, but there are certain requirements on the proportion, such as up to 50% Syrah. Note: The Saccicaia wine that no one knows is exactly one of the Bolgheri DOC. Before the current DOC regulations were enacted in 1994, Sassicaia and other super Tuscan wines produced were usually sold as Vino da Tavola or Toscana IGT. The ideal climate for high-quality wine
Bolgheri produces bold super Tuscan wines, which are widely acclaimed. IGreppi is founded in 2001 in Bog, Tuscany, by two of the most famous winemaking families in Tuscany, Cancelllieri and Landini (Bolgheri) production area. Although Alessandro Landini was acquired by an investment group in 2017, he is known for his award-winning work in Chianti, and he continues to serve as a consultant to the current owner.
The I Greppi vineyard is located in the center of the Bolgheri DOC area, between the villages of Bolgheri and Castagneto Carducci, just two miles from the beautiful Mediterranean coastline. This coastal climate near the water creates ideal conditions for long-term grapes to mature, because the sea breeze helps cool the vineyards during the hot summer months and at the same time keeps the grape clusters dry. The dry environment can keep the grapes Healthier, less or even no chance of mildew or rot.
