Château de Charodon is eponymous of the young negociant business founded by Louis Vallet, based in Montagny-les-Beaune, just outside Beaune, Burgundy.
Louis’ resume as a winemaker is remarkable. Besides being in the third generation of Pierre Bourée Fils domaine, where he worked for years, Louis amassed invaluable experience from stints in the Biobio region of Chile, as well as distinguished producers like Pascal Marchand and Bernard Zito.
Louis demonstrates a clear philosophy in staying true to the signature of the vintage, while honing the best potential of the wines. Like his mentors, he prioritises ease of drinking and pleasure, while infusing plushness in the texture.
Château de Charodon offers an expansive spectrum of wines in its portfolio, all of which consistently promise pleasurable, freshness, ready-to-drink experiences.

Region: Meursault, Côte d'Or, France.
Meursault is a commune located in the embankment of Côte-d’Or near the Saint-Romain valley. It stretches across 3 miles across in the north-south orientation in a variety elevation. The soil comprises mainly Jurassic marls and marly limestones, and the hard Comblanchian limestone soils unique to this region provide ideal conditions and distinct minerality for Chardonnay grapes.
From the premiere cru to the commune-level vineyards, Meursault wines amass a consistently fine reputation in quality for their aromatic power and rich palate.

Louis Vallet is known for his dedication to organic and sustainable farming practices. He believes in minimal intervention in the vineyard, allowing the grapes to fully express their unique terroir. His approach to winemaking is traditional, with a focus on gentle handling and aging in French oak barrels.
The wines of Chateau de Charodon are highly sought-after for their complexity and balance. Louis produces a range of wines, including Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Aligote. His Chardonnay is especially noteworthy, as it is grown in a lesser-known area of Burgundy that produces some of the region's most mineral-driven and elegant
wines.
ouis currently works with land that is leased out on long-term contracts. This strategy has enabled him to rapidly expand his production to meet the growing demand, reaching an impressive 42,000 bottles in the latest year. He is extremely involved in the sourcing of his fruit and the grapes are all organically grown. Louis oversees harvest himself and also the transport of the grapes into his winery. He has also renovated the château’s surrounding buildings to accommodate greater production capacity, and has completed construction on a state-of-the-art winery with impeccably chosen barrels and stainless steel tanks.
【Wine Enthusiast 92pts】
his new negociant house run by winemaker Louis Vallet has purchased this small parcel in Meursault. The wine is rich but tightly controlled, with acidity and strong minerality as well as citrus fruits. It needs time and will be best from 2022.
