3 bottles $240/btl
Region/Classification: France / Burgundy / Cote de Beaune
Grape variety: 100% Chardonnay
Alcohol content: 13%

Among the wines produced at Domaine Poulleau, white wine accounts for approximately 7% of total production—of course, this varies by vintage. This exceptional Burgundy white wine is produced from a small plot of land spanning just 0.19 hectares. The plot is located at an altitude exceeding 300 metres, even above the vineyards of the Beaune Premier Cru appellation.
Winery Information:
Domaine Poulleau is a 4.5-hectare estate located in Volnay, within the Cote de Beaune appellation, producing the wine known as ‘Les Mondes Rondes.’ This designation is the same as that of a broader Burgundy region product, which can easily be mistaken for the Cote de Beaune village AOC. Indeed, it differs from the latter because only wines produced on the higher slopes behind the hills of Beaune are permitted to bear the name (sans Villages AOC), with the name designated as ‘Climat’ or ‘Lieux-Dits.’ The region is situated above the Prime Minister's Hill in Beaune, at an elevation of 300m to 370m. ‘Les Mondes Rondes’ is the core of this appellation. The grapes for this wine are hand-picked from vines that are 25 years old. The wine is aged on the lees in oak barrels, undergoes a slight malolactic fermentation, and is then lightly filtered, with an annual production of approximately 30,000 bottles.

【Burgundy - Cote de Beaune region】
Côte de Beaune is a wine-producing region located in the southern part of the Côte d'Or department in the Burgundy region of eastern France. The Côte de Beaune region, along with the Côte de Nuits region to its north, is renowned as the birthplace of the greatest Burgundy wines, primarily encompassing the wine-producing areas east and north of the city of Beaune. While the region is primarily known for its red wines, its white wines are also of exceptional quality. Dry red wines from Cote de Beaune are relatively more robust than those from Cote de Nuits, with higher tannin levels. The red wines exhibit a ruby red colour, exuding aromas of red fruits, accompanied by notes of animal, earthy, and underbrush. They have a smooth texture, balanced acidity, and excellent ageing potential.
