La Lagune

3rd Growth

Chateau La Lagune (Chateau La Lagune) is located in the Haut-Medoc (Haut-Medoc) production area on the left bank of Bordeaux (Bordeaux). Bordeaux city 16 km. In the 1855 Médoc rating, Chateau Laragon was rated as the third level of listed wineries.

The winery is located on the alluvial soil of the Haut-Medoc in Bordeaux. The soil is rich in minerals and is the best soil for brewing red wine. It is no wonder that the history of wine here began as early as the 16th century. According to the authoritative British wine media <Decanter>, La Lagune can be said to be "the pioneer of the Médoc".

The winemaking history of La Lagune began in 1525, and the elegant castle built today was built by Baron Louis between 1730-1734. In 1855, La Lagune became a third growth. At present, the estate is taken over by the Frey family, a Swiss financial group. The quality and popularity of the wine have greatly increased, and it has become a local "Super Third Growth".

In brewing process, all the grapes used in wine are picked by hand. The grapes are sorted in the fermentation room, destemmed and the grapes are gently pressed. The grapes from different plots are fermented in many vats of different sizes. After a few days of maceration, the alcoholic fermentation begins. After two weeks, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in vats and the pressed wine in small oak barrels. Oak barrel aging uses 55% new barrels, 45% old barrels from the previous year, and lasts for about 18 months.

The wines have the elegant and balanced characteristics of Bordeaux wines, but add freshness, harmony and a little softness, giving its real personality. The estate's wines contain a high proportion of Petit Verdot, which is one of their characteristics. The estate's second wine was initially very pleasant, an easy-drinking wine. The content of Merlot is more than that of the real wine, about 40%. The use of 30% to 40% new oak barrels and 12 months of aging in barrels.
