The winery originated in 1724, with Remy Martin selling cognac under his own name. The cognac sold was appreciated by King Louis XV of France. His descendant Paul Emile Remy Martin took over the winery and expanded its business to the world.
The current chief winemaker is Baptiste Louse. He studied under the previous chief winemaker Pierrette Trichet PIERRETTE TRICHET. He developed the Club series of wines for Remy Martin. The main job of the Chief Cellar Master is to reformulate all vintages of Cognac, even if they are of the same vintage and age, into a product of consistent quality.
Compared with modern mass production methods, Remy Martin uses small copper stills to distill wine, which not only makes the brewed spirits more deep and rich in aroma, but also helps maintain the consistency of the flavor. Each batch of raw liquid needs to be distilled twice within 24 hours. This process is lengthy but crucial. Since its founding in 1724, the double distillation method has been used to obtain the purest grape aroma. All grapes come from the Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne regions, and the distilled wine produced has aging potential. For this, oak barrels from Limousin in France are specially selected. This kind of wooden barrel has relatively large gaps, and the effect of aging will be stronger.
