Background

Allegrini, rooted in Valpolicella since the 16th century, is now one of the most influential wineries. Currently in its sixth generation, it owns over 100 hectares of estates, including Palazzodella Torre, La Grola, La Poja, Villa Cavarena, Fieramonte, and Monte dei Galli. The vineyards are located on the Valpolicella Classico hill at an altitude of 180-280 meters, facing southeast. The soils are diverse, but primarily clay and chalk, with an average vine age of 35 years. Each September, the grapes are hand-picked and naturally dried for 3-4 months until they lose 40-45% of their weight. In early January, they are destemmed and pressed, aged in oak barrels for 18 months, and then blended for 7 months before release. Amarone is one of Italy's most famous wines, alongside Barolo and Brunello di Montalcino.

One of 34 Veneto Wineries Wins "Bibenda Meaningful Wine" 5 Grappoli Award

The Italian Sommelier Foundation (FIS) released its 2019 "Bibenda Meaningful Wine" guide. More than 600 wines received the highest award, the "5 Grappoli" award, and the guide includes high-quality wines from 2029 wineries. 34 wines from the Veneto region received this prestigious award, including two from Allegrini.

Gambero Rosso Tre Bicchieri has won the highest level Italian Red Shrimp Award (3-glass) 20 times since 1998. Ranked fifth among all Italian wineries in the *Italian Wine Guide*, it is the highest-ranked winery in the Veneto region. Gambero Rosso is Italy's most famous wine and food magazine, published since 1986, introducing local Italian cuisine and wines. Later, it added wine and restaurant reviews, becoming a highly authoritative guide in Italy. The name "Gambero Rosso" comes from a tavern in the Italian children's novel *Pinocchio*. It is also the creator of the world's most authoritative and widely disseminated Italian wine guide—the *Italian Wine Guide*. The rating system of the *Italian Wine Guide* is arguably the most authoritative and professional rating system for evaluating Italian wines and wineries. A panel of over 70 experts, including top wine judges from various major wine regions, as well as editors and professional reviewers from *Italian Wine Guide*, conducts annual tastings across Italy's wine regions. The selection process involves blind tastings, where tasters know only the vintage and grape variety, but not the producer. The rating is determined using wine glasses. The highest award, the Three Glasses Award, is the highest honor in the *Italian Wine Guide*, and these wines are selected through a rigorous process by the editors and professional reviewers of the *Italian Wine Guide*.

Wine Spectator has long followed Allegrin i, awarding over 60 wines 90 points or higher in blind tastings. Wine Spectator magazine dedicated a nine-page feature to the Allegrin i family history, and the wine was even included in their "Legends of Top Wineries" section. Elegant, expressive and full of spiced cherries and dried herbs. Palate is fresh and fluid with lovely notes of berries flowing on the medium-bodied palate. Juicy and fresh with some soft, cherry-coated tannins. Not quite intense nor complex, but still enticing and well-made. Drink now.
