Champagne Lanson was founded in 1760 in the Cote de Reims. It has a history of more than 260 years. It has been family run for many years. It is worth mentioning that each bottle of Lanson champagne is printed with a red cross logo. The origin of the logo can be traced back to 1798, when the son of the founder was a member of the Knights Hospitaller of Malta (the oldest charity in the world, founded in 1048). ), decided to use the Maltese Cross to design Lanson's logo. Today, the Lanson Cross, redesigned and engraved on every bottle, still symbolizes the ideals of openness, friendliness and hospitality.

Lanson was granted a "Royal Warrant" as early as the British Queen Victoria period (1837-1901), and has been the official supplier of the British royal family since 1900. Now the wine bottle also has the coat of arms of Elizabeth II. Since 1977, the brand has long-term cooperation with the British Wimbledon Tennis Open, and in 2001 it officially became the designated champagne for the tournament. In addition, the winery cooperates with Reims' five-star hotel Domaine Les Crayères every year to host the Soirée Blanche white picnic party, which attracted 3,500 champagne fans from all over the world in 2019.

Wine Making Process

Since 2013, the chief winemaker has been Mr. Hervé Dantan, a native of the Champagne region. He is the son of a grape farmer. He studied winemaking in France and California, and learned to make Champagne in 1991. Champagne Lanson puts great effort into the selection of grapes and never uses malolactic fermentation. Non-vintage Champagne must be aged for at least 3 years, and vintage Champagne must be aged for at least 5 years. This makes Lanson Champagne unique in style, with naturally rich fruit flavors, full of power, and good freshness.

Region

In addition to cooperating with local fruit growers, Lanson Champagne has 16 hectares of its own vineyard. The vineyards are mainly located in Montagne de Reims in the Champagne region. The production area is adjacent to Côte de Sézanne and Côte des Blanc, and there are a total of 9 Grands Crus Villages in the area. The soil is mainly chalk soil with a small amount of clay. Different from Côte des Blanc, which mainly grows Chardonnay, Cote de Reims mainly grows Pinot Noir, and has the reputation of "The kingdom of Pinot Noir". The base wine is made from local grapes and has an elegant and delicate style. The vineyard has both Agriculture Biologique (organic agricultural products) and Demeter certifications, which shows that the winery attaches great importance to biodiversity and sustainable development.
