Chateau Rieussec is located in the Sauternes region of Bordeaux, France.

In 1855, when sweet wine was the mainstream, the Sauternes and Barsac production areas were finally divided into three levels, namely super first level (only one Chateau d`Yquem), first level, and second level. Chateau Rieussec is listed as Premier Grand Cru Classe together with 10 other famous Sauternes chateaus such as Suduiraut, Coutet and Guiraud.

Lafite, an industry owned by the Lafite family
In the 18th century, Chateau Rieussec was the property of the Carmes monks in the Langon region. During the Revolution, it was confiscated and auctioned to Mr. Marheilhac. It has experienced the management of Charles Crepin, Paul Defolie, the Gasqueton family and Albert Vuillier, who was passionate about Sauternes. After changing hands several times, it was not until 1984 that Chateau Rieussec became one of Domaines Barons de Rothschild's Lafite estates, ushering in an important period of development. In order to fully tap the potential of this terroir, Lafite Group has taken a series of measures, such as building a new wine cellar and brewing workshop, adding modern equipment to the grape screening room and pressing room. In addition, in order to ensure the quality of the wine, the winery has set higher standards for the winemaking raw materials. When encountering unsatisfactory years, such as 1977, 1993 and 2012, the winery directly gave up the production of this wine.

In order to produce top-quality Sauternes sweet white wine, Chateau Rieussec follows the Sauternes tradition and has a very strict selection process, selectively picking based on the maturity of the grapes and the growth of the botrytis grapes. And these grapes will be divided according to the plot and put into different batches of oak barrels for fermentation. After fermentation, the winemaking team tastes the wine in oak barrels several times to determine which wines have the potential to become grand wines. The wines are then matured in oak barrels for anywhere from 16 to 26 months, with regular clarification and aeration. Finally, the bottling process takes place inside the castle. It is worth mentioning that the oak barrels in the winery come from Lafite’s own barrel factory, and half of the old barrels are renewed every year.

It is carefully brewed by the same technical team as the genuine brand. It is matured in oak barrels for 18 months. It has a full and rich aroma. There is a strong citrus aroma in the mouth. It is complex and mellow at the same time, fresh in style and has a unique flavor.
