Perrier Jouet, founded in 1811, has long been known as the "Flower of Champagne" and has a history older than Krug and Dom Perignon! In 1811, Perrie-Nicholas-Marie Perrier and his wife Adele Jouet founded the Perrier Jouet brand. Since the beginning of the year, a number of high-quality vineyards have been established in the designated Champagne region of France. Among them, the Cote de Blanc vineyard in Carmont has been rated as 100% top vineyard, and other series such as Belle Epoque, Grand Brut and Blanson Rose. They are all sourced from high-quality vineyards with a score of 99.2%. The Chardonnay grape is the most famous for its strong aftertaste. The top-grade grape creates a classic taste.
Pierre-Nicolas Perrier and Rose-Adélaïde Jouët share a love of nature and art. She was a cultured young woman from a family of Norman merchants; he was a skilled vintner and botanist. A year after their marriage, they founded Maison Perrier-Jouët in 1811: they aspired to create a Champagne house with a difference.
The founder's passion for art, nature and Champagne has been passed down from generation to generation. Their son, Charles Perrier, a botanist like his father, took over the estate in 1848. The family philosophy of creative freedom and unconventional observation of nature is intrinsic to Champagne's history. These values shape Maison Perrier-Jouët to this day.
The founders of Maison Perrier-Jouët decided on the Côtes Blanches, located in the heart of Champagne’s “Golden Triangle”, as the ideal terroir for Chardonnay and established relationships with the best vineyard growers. Today this is one of the most highly regarded Champagne vineyards, ranking 99.2% on the Echelle des Crus quality scale of Cramant and Avize.
Maison Perrier-Jouët’s vineyards hold sustainably grown Champagne certificates for the region’s three main grape varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier. In 2016, the Perrier-Jouët Champagne vineyard was awarded HVE, France’s top environmental certification, for its biodiversity and ecological standards.
As the eighth CEO of Château Perrier-Jouët and the first female Cellar Master of Château Perrier-Jouët, Séverine Freerson believes that her mission is to maintain the style and quality of the brand while bringing it into a new era. Since its establishment, Château Perrier-Jouët has been coexisting with nature and continuously strengthening environmental protection measures to achieve ambitious goals. Coping with the vagaries of the climate and pioneering new, more sustainable methods of viticulture are just some of the challenges that Séverine Freerson hopes to overcome in the coming years, relying on her passion and inspiration, as well as her incredible energy and creativity force.
“My favorite cuvée is Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque Blanc de Blancs. It’s a cuvée for connoisseurs, the absolute essence of Chardonnay.”
Cultivated over centuries, the symbiotic relationship with nature continues and the vineyard is committed to sustainability.
All waste is reused and repurposed to make new products. 100% of by-products (grape seeds, skins, pulp, lees) are recycled and transformed.
Perrier-Jouët bottles are 100% recycled, forever. Its green glass bottles contain 85% recycled glass. Now, 100% of branded gifts will be ecologically designed. Introducing a new sustainable gift box for Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque wines: the brand recycles untreated leftover wood – from FSC-certified French forests – and uses it to create this gift box.
