Château Romboff is located in the Saint-Julien sub-region of the Médoc. , was rated as a second growth in the 1855 wine classification. The history can be traced back to 1638. At the time, Jean de Moytie, Senator of the Dordo Council at the time, was given a piece of the vineyard. In 1740, the vineyard was sold to Alexandre de Gascq-Leoville, who named the winery after him.
The Famille Cuvelier has owned Château Romboff since 1920. The first owner of the family at that time was Didier Cuvelier. With the assistance of winemaking consultant Michel Rolland and winery winemaker Isabelle Davin, the quality of the wine has been greatly improved. The winery is currently managed by Sara Lecompte Cuvelier. In addition, the family purchased grape fields in the Mendoza region of Argentina in the 1990s and founded the Cuvelier Los Andes winery.
Saint-Julien has only 920 hectares, but it can be divided into several characteristic "mass", all of which have a large amount of sand and gravel in their geological composition. It is the richness and diversity of these gravel soils in the Saint-Julien appellation that allows Château Longboffi to produce wines with a variety of styles.
The entire vineyard covers an area of 80 hectares and consists of 64 different grape fields. This includes an entire 20-hectare independent vineyard for the production of Ruiqi Mill Winery. The surface layer of the soil is sand and gravel from the Minde Ice Age, and the lower layer is fine sandy clay, planted with 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet Franc. The average age of the vines is 35 years.
The artesian juice wine will be aged in oak barrels for 18 months, and malolactic fermentation will be carried out in new oak barrels. During the whole aging process, oak barrel "clarification" and "egg white clarification" will be carried out regularly to make the blended wine more delicate, tannin softer and the wine more supple.
Chateau Leoville Poyferre
The authentic wine is elegant and delicate in the entrance, and has the strength of aging for many years.
Pavillon de Leoville Poyferre
The second wine, fruity and juicy, can be drunk young.
Chateau Moulin Riche
Originally used as the second wine of Leoville Poyferre, it later became an independent winery. The winery has a complete 20-hectare vineyard planted with 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot and up to 23% Petit Verdot. The wine is pure and fruity, with a delicate style. After 2018, the wine label was redesigned, and the color of the original wine label was tan, but the two colors just happened to be reversed.
Ruiqi Mill Winery M Series
Ruiqi Moofang's second-brand wine uses grapes from young vineyards, which is easier to drink and has the same rich fruity aroma as the original wine.
