Mitolo Midolo Winery was founded in 1999 by Frank Mitolo and his wife in McLaren Vale, South Australia.

The owner, Frank Mitolo, is from Italy and has unlimited passion for wine. He grows native Italian varieties in his hometown in the McLaren Vale with excellent terroir. It not only breaks through the framework of Australian wine, but also creates the pinnacle of delicious Italian varieties.

Founded just over 20 years ago, it has been praised by authoritative wine critics around the world. Its exquisite and stable wine quality, coupled with a relatively approachable price, has become the most watched cult wine in the new world!

They have always had three major insistences on wine: only using the best quality grapes from specially selected vineyards, only picking and brewing in the best condition, and using the best oak barrels! Let the wine show the most authentic flavor of the variety, showing the elegant wine structure, soft tannins and mellow and varied rich taste!

The winery and vineyards are located in McLaren Vale, a complex wine region with a Mediterranean climate, complex soils and varying altitudes, ideal for growing many international varieties as well as many native Italian varieties. The vineyards are located in five carefully selected independent plots in McLaren Vale. The terroir is similar to the owner's hometown - Abruzzo, Italy. The output is full of style, with excellent flavors of "Italian deft and restrained" and "Australian rich and full". Almost all of Mitolo's grapes come from the Sellicks Hill and Aldinga vineyards in the production area. Sellicks Hill has fertile soil and plenty of sunshine. Aldinga is close to the coast and is influenced by the cool sea breezes of the bay. These excellent terroirs give the wine a very rich fruit flavor while retaining good acidity.

McLaren Vale is a production area with relatively gentler terrain and a climate more similar to the Mediterranean. It is very suitable for Italian and Greek grape varieties. Generally speaking, the wines in this area are more charming and colorful. The terroir characteristics of Mitlo are also local. Because it is close to the ocean, the temperature changes greatly in the morning and evening, which is very conducive to maintaining the acidity of the grapes. On the one hand, the winemaker respects the terroir of McLaren Vale, and on the other hand, he also pays attention to the Italian background of the owner. Therefore, the wine style is more similar to the Mediterranean style, and at the same time carries the local free atmosphere. With the consensus of the two, the Italian wine is also introduced. Italian varieties and brewing methods. From a certain perspective, Midoro can be compared to the Bolgheri region of Italy: it also has a Mediterranean climate and uses international varieties to make wines with an Italian spirit.

In addition to McLaren Vale's famous local Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and other international varieties, the wines grown in the winery also include native Italian varieties Sangiovese, Montepulciano and Sagrantino.

The owner Frank and his friend Ben Glaetzer, the new generation of star winemakers who created the legendary Australian wine Amon-Ra, have taken Mitolo to the top together.

Mitolo winemaker Ben Glaetzer once created Australia's first RP 100-point wine - Glaetzer Amon Ra (Eye of the Sky), the flagship wine. The flagship wine has received RP 95 or above for five consecutive years and has been rated as the highest grade red by James Halliday for 12 consecutive years. Five-star winery sets amazing unbeaten record

Mitolo has received the highest rating for Australian wine for eight consecutive years, receiving the James Halliday Red Five-Star Award. Among them, the "Small Batch Craft Brew" series has been highly praised by Robert Parker with more than 90 points every year.
In addition to classic international varieties, "Small Batch" also perfectly demonstrates the outstanding flavor of native Italian varieties in South Australia. Each style is unique and fascinating.

Robert Parker once said: "For a young winery that was only established in 1999, Midoro Winery is committed to handcrafting exquisite wines that always amaze me every time I taste it. And it brings me more inspiration, which is really admirable. Frank Midoro and his talented winemaker Ben Glazzo have really elevated the quality of Midoro wines to a dazzling and outstanding level.”

James Halliday, Australia's most authoritative wine critic, once again selected Mitolo as the highest-grade red five-star winery in the latest 2019 "Australian Wine Guide"! This is the 12th consecutive year it has won this honor, setting an astonishing unbeaten record! Such an excellent winery frequently receives high scores of over 90 points from Robert Parker every year! It was even selected as one of the "Top 100 Wineries of the Year" by British wine critic Matthew Jukes!
