Chateau Guiraud is located in the Sauternes region of Bordeaux, France. It was originally founded by the Mons de Saint Poly family. On February 22, 1766, Bordeaux wine merchant Pierre Guiraud purchased the manor. After 80 years and the efforts of three generations of the family, the winery was rated as Sauternes Premier Cru Classes in 1855. Since then, it has become famous. Made a great wine. In 2006, the winery was purchased by four celebrities: Robert Peugeot and three other winemakers (Olivier Bernard, Stephan Von Neipperg and Xavier Planty). They agreed on the quality and philosophy of the winery and formed a new team to manage the winery.

The vineyard covers 100 hectares, of which 15 hectares are used to produce entry-level dry white wine. Their soil is 80% gravel and sand and 20% gravel and clay. The subsoil consists mainly of sand. The two grape varieties are Sauvignon Blanc (35%) and Semillon (65%). What’s special about the winery is that the planting proportion of Sauvignon Blanc is generally only about 15% in other wineries in Sauternes. Roughly speaking, one hectare of vines produces 12 hectoliters of Guiraud. Manual harvesting can be carried out 6 times if there is a shortage of grapes! The winery has been producing organic wine since 1996 and obtained relevant certification for organic wine in 2011. The winery uses relatively special grape growing methods, such as not deliberately pruning weeds growing between vines and another vine, and its pruning, thinning, and trellising systems are all quite unique.
The noble rot dessert wine named after the winery is the flagship wine of the winery. Château Guiraud Premier Cru is a blend of 65% Semillon and 35% Sauvignon Blanc, brewed with natural yeast, 80% in new French oak barrels, and the rest in old oak barrels for 18 months. It has fresh floral aromas, exotic notes and rich but not cloying sweetness, with a rich, balanced taste. Delicate and aromatic.
The winery’s second-label botrytis dessert wine is also made from the grapes used in the flagship, with the same blend ratio. Aging is slightly reduced to 12 months. A blend of modern and traditional styles. It has a fresh lemon aroma and a fruity taste of grapefruit. The palate is light, delicate and vibrant.
The dry white wine launched is made from 25-year-old vine grapes picked at optimal ripeness from specially selected plots. It is aged for 6 months on the lees, half in stainless steel tanks and half in barrels previously used for grand wines, and undergoes malolactic fermentation in batches, which gives it its unique character.
The newly designed new wine has the style of top Bordeaux dry white wine. Produced from grapes from selected plots and aged in barrels previously used to make grand wines, it combines quality, subtlety and precision.
Aromas of lime peel, dried pineapple, green mango, dried thyme, salted almonds and pine needles. The wine is medium to full-bodied with bright acidity. Layered and concentrated. Lots of fresh and dried fruit herbs and nuts. With hints of passion fruit and white flowers. Medium bodied.
