Listrac Medoc

Located about 15 kilometers northwest of Bordeaux, it is the least exposed production area in the Medoc region, and the wine price is very cost-effective. There are no Grand Cru Classe wineries in the production area. Before 2003, there were 27 Cru Bourgeois wineries. After 2003, the number was reduced to 20 (the output accounts for 55% of the area), and now there are 14 wineries. Usually the proportion of Merlot grapes in the Listrac production area is relatively high, the berry flavor is strong, and the wine is full-bodied, and the wines of Moulis are very good value for money, and the price is compared with the same quality Saint-Estephe, Pauillac, Saine-Julien, and Margaux Wines from production areas only cost 60 to 70% of the price, and you can find wines with very good value for money.

Compared with other Bordeaux production areas, this production area is far away from the river and the ocean, and is sheltered by large pine forests from strong winds. The suitable microclimate makes the grapes ripen slowly and regularly. The vineyards in the production area are gravel, the bottom soil has more clay, and the altitude is higher. The wine produced has a dark wine skirt and complex aromas, including aromas of red fruits, black fruits, licorice and soft spices. There is even a hint of leather, fresh and well-balanced, well-proportioned, full-bodied and powerful, perfect for ageing.

History of Listrac Medoc

In 1913, Listrac was one of the largest wine producers in Pauillac, but faced financial difficulties during the Depression. It was one of the first farms to use the French Chamber of Commerce to help its members start exporting wine, and it still exists today with nearly 40 members. It is currently exported all over the world. Listrac AOC is a Rhône wine made in 1957 by a group of winemakers and recently recognized as a Controlled Designation of Origin. Listrac-Médoc is one of the six communes of the Médoc due to its high individuality and reputation for its wines.
